Project Engineer - Electrical & Fibre Optic
Reporting directly to the Principal Electrical Engineer, the Project Engineer provides engineering and technical support for all operational aspects of electrical and fibre optic works within the group. The role involves working within the engineering support team to develop technical solutions and procedures for HV and fibre optic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with specialist legislation, standards, and regulations in Electrical Engineering and Fibre Optic fields by developing plans and procedures.
- Maintain adherence to electrical and fibre optic safety and technical standards across the group.
- Implement engineering standards and best practices for electrical and fibre optic work, meeting industry and client standards.
- Contribute to the improvement of technical and operational procedures within the group.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ensure compliance throughout the business.
- Maintain operational understanding of all electrical and fibre optic test equipment used within the group.
- Review and critique test equipment for performance and reliability; support equipment selection and maintenance.
- Ensure test equipment is in good working order.
- Provide technical training for operational personnel and assist in developing training courses and testing regimes.
- Support technical clarifications during tenders, project execution, and business development.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support operational projects throughout their lifecycle.
- Provide scheduled out-of-office support during testing phases.
- Offer on-site support during project execution as required.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent professional experience (minimum 5 years).
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Fibre Optics Installation and Testing or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years).
- Thorough knowledge of electrical and fibre optic test equipment, HV & LV systems, switchgear, and protection systems.
- Experience in installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical and fibre optic systems.
- Proficient in technical report writing and interfacing with clients and authorities.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Minimum safety qualification: IOSH Managing Safely.
