The role's purpose is to effectively lead and manage the day-to-day operations at Douglas Laing Bottling Plant. The role will oversee warehousing, vatting, and bottling activities, with a focus on continuously improving key performance indicators such as health & safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people.

This position plays a key role in fostering high-performing, engaged, and values-driven teams. It involves responsible leadership, support, and development of team members to ensure high standards, operational excellence, and alignment with company culture.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the team to safely optimize performance across KPIs, including health & safety, quality, delivery, cost, and personnel.
  2. Set and uphold the highest safety standards within the plant by improving processes and engaging the team to drive safety culture.
  3. Promote quality culture by leading change and ensuring team members champion quality within their areas.
  4. Model company values and behaviors, leading with integrity, respect, and accountability. Act as a cultural ambassador, encouraging collaboration and inclusion.
  5. Maintain 100% service fulfillment through effective production planning and delivery.
  6. Manage capacity planning and ensure high efficiency levels within set targets.
  7. Ensure stock accuracy for materials and finished goods, maintaining system integrity (SAP).
  8. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to deliver top-quality products.
  9. Handle external and regulatory site visits.
  10. Manage budgetary costs, achieve activities within budget, and identify savings through continuous improvements and initiatives.
  11. Oversee people-related processes, including RTW, absence, holidays, development conversations, and 1-2-1s. Foster performance and capability growth through coaching and feedback.
  12. Create an environment of open communication and psychological safety, supporting employee well-being and strong relationships.
  13. Serve as the first point of contact for operational issues and escalations.
  14. Prepare for development and succession, with exposure to broader business functions, and be ready to assume full site responsibility during absences.
