Design Engineer

Location: Manchester

Salary: Up to £45,000 plus excellent benefits including:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, DraftSight) for product development, including sheet metal and FEA suites
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with batch and bespoke products

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure products meet regulatory standards and stay updated on relevant vehicle construction and service regulations
  • Assist Sales Managers in evaluating the feasibility of potential business, aligning with production capabilities
  • Design and improve components, assemblies, and bodywork for quality, efficiency, and profitability
  • Develop bespoke solutions in partnership with customers, translating requirements into finished vehicles
  • Provide procurement with specifications for parts
  • Collaborate with suppliers on product integration, troubleshooting, and innovation
  • Manage vehicle approval processes, keeping abreast of legislation to minimize compliance risks
