Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented commercial real estate lawyer to fill the role of Legal Counsel – Real Estate/Colo supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is a rapidly growing business within Amazon.com, leading in the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

As part of the AWS legal team, you will support AWS's global data center expansion through land acquisitions, leases, and serviced licenses. Your responsibilities will include transactional drafting and negotiations, providing legal counsel and contract interpretation to business teams daily. Transactions will range from standard contracts to complex, high-value agreements. You will structure, draft, and negotiate agreements and leases, support AWS's existing portfolio, manage outside counsel, and advise internal clients. Additionally, you will help develop, implement, and manage process improvements, resolve legal issues in existing relationships, and handle pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The position offers a competitive salary based on experience, including equity compensation. It is located in our London office.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• A qualified lawyer with at least five years of post-qualification legal experience, including at least three years at a law firm, specializing in real estate law.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts in English.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
