Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative Hepatology Nursing team? University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) is seeking a part-time (30hrs per week) Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated team.

This role focuses on delivering specialist nursing care to patients with liver disease, including cirrhosis, haemochromatosis, viral hepatitis. Our Hepatology nursing service operates Monday to Friday across Sussex, providing high-quality and inclusive care to individuals affected by liver disease.

This is a Band 6-7 developmental post, and applicants will be considered at Band 6 or Band 7 depending on their experience and qualifications.

Main duties of the job

This role is vital in providing specialised care to patients with liver disease, focusing oncirrhosis, haemochromatosis, & viral hepatitis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting nurse-led clinics in outpatient & outreach settings

  • Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, manage, & provide ongoing care for your patient caseload

  • Educating patients, families, & staff on disease management, lifestyle interventions, & available support services

  • Supporting junior staff & contributing to their development

  • Involvement in service planning & quality improvement initiatives

  • Engaging with external healthcare providers to ensure seamless care

The post is based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. A willingness to travel locally & across Sussex for outreach & cross-cover is essential.

Experience caring for patients with liver disease, strong clinical & communication skills, & specialist knowledge are essential. You'll need to offer expert advice & provide consistent, compassionate support throughout the patient journey.
