About
Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an accident and emergency department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals.
We are the main provider of acute hospital services to a population of around 210,000, living within Weymouth and Portland, West Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. We also provide renal services for patients throughout Dorset and South Somerset; a total population of 850,000.
Our 3,000 staff work in GP surgeries, schools, residential homes and peoples own homes as well as Dorset County Hospital and the community hospitals.
Dorset County Hospital has approximately 400 beds, seven main theatres and two day theatres, and has been designed with a major commitment to Public Arts in Hospital. Related services are grouped into three connected wings: North, South and East. Entry to the hospital is gained via nine main entrances.

Job Overview
We are pleased to advertise a fixed term vacancy for 1 year, to cover maternity leave. Successful candidates will be considered as fixed term contract or as a secondment opportunity. We seek applications from Physiotherapists that have their HCPC registration and ready to start work as soon as possible.
Dorset County Hospital offers the opportunity to work on acute inpatient wards and assessment units; outpatient clinics and in rehabilitation facilities including community rotations in partnership with Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.
Our 4 month rotational posts include a wide variety of specialties including:

Essential criteria
- Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy.
- Registered as a Physiotherapist with The Health Professions Council.
Desirable criteria
- CSP member
- Relevant Healthcare courses
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- An understanding of evidence based practice pertaining to Physiotherapy
- Awareness of national guidelines and standards relevant to Physiotherapy
- Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for Physiotherapy
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
- A broad range of undergraduate experience in all core specialities of Physiotherapy
- Experience and ability to work collaboratively within MPT
Desirable criteria
- Awareness and understanding of NHS structure, current issues and developments
- Previous experience at band 5 level
- Experience of clinical practice in an NHS environment
- Experience of participating in audit and evidence based projects
- Evidence of actively participating in in-service training and MDT groups, and evaluating effectiveness of training
