We are looking to hire a Senior Trend Strategist to join our established team of data scientists, analysts, and trend experts in London.

This is a fixed-term contract until March 2026 to cover the maternity leave of a current employee.

Role overview

In this role, you will join a team of data scientists, analysts, and trend experts to deliver AI-driven fashion planning and trend forecasting across our content platform and bespoke advisory services.

TrendCurve AI is our predictive analytics model within WGSN Fashion Buying, combining powerful data science and quantitative forecasting with the world's leading trend expertise.

The individual will be highly analytical, skilled at interrogating multiple data sets, interpreting trends, and translating data analysis into actionable insights for strategic partners.

With a focus on content creation, you will work with our global team to extract key insights and recommendations for clients as part of our TrendCurve AI offering.

The Senior Strategist will have an expert understanding of the role data and analytics play in business success and will be seen as a trusted industry expert with significant experience in the fashion sector, preferably within buying, merchandising, or insights functions.

This role is client-facing and involves regular meetings with enterprise-level clients.

Key accountabilities
  1. Deliver comprehensive seasonal category and key item fashion trend reports that meet business objectives and client needs.
  2. Contextualize AI-powered trend forecasts and complex data sets through in-depth analysis, collaboration, and secondary research to provide clear, actionable recommendations that drive growth.
  3. Write concise, relevant, action-oriented commentary with a clear understanding of target personas and practical client applications.
  4. Apply global fashion market expertise to interpret macro and micro trends across various markets.
  5. Build cross-functional partnerships with data science, analytics, product, and fashion content teams.
  6. Manage workflow to meet seasonal content calendar deadlines.
  7. Source, curate, and credit relevant imagery to complement data analysis.
  8. Present insights to clients engagingly and inspiringly as required.

Skills, experience & qualifications required
  1. In-depth experience in retail, apparel, and fashion markets, enabling critical retail decisions.
  2. Experience with other consumer lifestyle products and markets is a plus.
  3. Experience working with or presenting to clients in the fashion and retail sector, including global brands/retailers.
  4. Proven experience in a fashion retail buying, merchandising, or insights/analytics role.
  5. Strong leadership and influencing skills; experience with C-suite stakeholders and team development; personable, curious, flexible, strategic.
  6. Strategic, customer-centric mindset with excellent research and analytical skills; able to collaborate with Data Analysts to interrogate data and extract insights.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects successfully, exceeding client expectations and pushing industry standards.
  8. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including presentation and writing; high numeracy.
  9. Data literacy, with experience in data analytics and visualization software (SQL, Tableau) being an advantage.
