A well-established engineering and fabrication company based in Guisborough is seeking a talented and motivated Graduate Design Engineer to join their growing design team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your engineering career in a forward-thinking and supportive environment, working on a diverse range of bespoke projects across multiple industries including oil & gas, energy, and heavy engineering.
Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of steel fabrications, pressure vessels, structural assemblies, and complex mechanical components.
Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks).
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, BOMs, and project specifications.
Liaise with project managers, workshop staff, suppliers, and clients to ensure designs meet requirements and standards.
Conduct design reviews, support design validation and verification, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and internal quality procedures.
Requirements:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline (2:2 or above).
Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).
Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the company.
An understanding of fabrication, welding, or pressure equipment design is advantageous but not essential.
