Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Are you passionate about driving sustainability initiatives and making a tangible impact? We are seeking an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join a well-established UK company. This role focuses on supporting sustainability efforts across UK operations and a European headquarters, aiming to reduce environmental impacts and promote a circular economy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance and Reporting:
   • Ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation and standards.
   • Support international material compliance processes.
   • Prepare and submit sustainability reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
   • Update and incorporate technical changes in sustainability policies.
2. Data Analysis and Management:
   • Collect, analyze, and manage sustainability data, maintaining inventories in compliance software (e.g., SAP, Reach Compliance).
   • Calculate product carbon footprints for UK and European operations.
   • Support data inquiries, annual reporting, and sustainability ratings.
   • Identify improvement areas using data-driven insights and track project effectiveness.
3. Sustainable Procurement:
   • Assist procurement teams with sustainable sourcing of materials and services.
   • Respond to sustainability-related questions during procurement processes.
4. Sustainability Strategies:
   • Contribute to developing and implementing sustainability plans.
   • Monitor and report on progress of sustainability projects.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
   • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability goals.
   • Conduct training sessions and workshops on sustainability practices.
   • Support CSR initiatives by handling sustainability inquiries.
6. Research and Innovation:
   • Stay updated on sustainability trends and technologies.
   • Review and improve sustainability communication materials.

Requirements:

• Experience in a sustainability or environmental administration role, aiming to advance to an advisor/specialist position.
• Background in environmental sciences, sustainability, data science, business administration, engineering, or related fields.
• Knowledge of carbon footprint analysis and reduction strategies.
• Familiarity with environmental legislation and frameworks (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Battery Regulation, REACH, RoHS, ISO 14001, 50001).
• Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (SAP preferred).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
