Who are we?

The Concrete Centre is a vital, and well known organisation within the construction and design industry. The Concrete Centre is part of The Mineral Products Association, a prominent UK Trade Association representing the mineral products sector, including cement, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and more. Our sector employs 80,000 people, generates £22 billion annually, and produces 400 million tonnes of material each year, making it the largest material flow in the UK economy. Our Members range from multinational groups to SME’s

The Role: To support and promote the use of concrete and masonry in construction projects. To use your knowledge and experience to influence standards and procurement as well as develop guidance and good practice that equips all relevant stakeholders to benefit from the sustainable credentials of concrete and masonry in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical and sustainability advice and support to designers, specifiers, constructors and clients of concrete and masonry construction. This includes infrastructure, buildings, and housing.
  • Develop and manage contacts within influential organisations and key stakeholders in the field of sustainable design and construction and use knowledge and experience to assist them in the sustainable use of concrete construction products.
  • Prepare and deliver technical guidance and advocacy presentations on the use of concrete or concrete products for sustainable construction. And, where appropriate, organise specialist presentations from colleagues, partner, and affiliated bodies, other external bodies, and professionals.

  • Promote innovation and good practice in concrete manufacturing and in design and construction.
  • That is just for a start! These roles have a wide-ranging and varied remit to make an overall contribution to the work of the concrete team within the MPA.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Good knowledge and experience of sustainable design and construction using concrete and masonry, plus ideally specific experience and understanding of design and construction to support a lower carbon and more circular economy.
  • Qualified to a professional standard within your relevant professional body or Institute, and preferably an active participant in that entity at local, regional, or national level
  • Experience of detailed design and construction with concrete and other materials.
  • An understanding of the role of all stakeholders and influencers in the construction sector including policy makers, standards, regulations, clients, and members of the project team.
  • A good understanding of Building Regulations and the planning process, plus ideally having specific experience and understanding of Life Cycle Analysis for buildings.
  • The confidence and ability to prepare and deliver technical, commercial, and promotional presentations to large audiences of construction industry professionals.

If you have the skills and experience that we need, and it is time for you to influence your entire sector for the better, then we would love to hear from you.
