Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Asset Management Technician to support the Environment & Transport Department. The Environment & Transport Department's Network Data & Intelligence (NDI) team is looking to fill the Asset Management Technician position on a 12-month fixed term contract, to cover a maternity leave absence. The role provides support to a wide variety of tasks and projects relating to highway asset management and is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in asset management, geographical information systems (GIS) and data analysis.
About the Role
The Asset Management function within the NDI team is responsible for collecting, analysing, providing, and improving the quality of information and data that supports highway maintenance planning and other evidence-led decisions relating to highway infrastructure assets.
Day-to-day, the Asset Management Technician is involved in asset data improvement projects, condition data analysis, and the collection, collation, and provision of information needed for internal and external reporting purposes.
This work requires a high level of attention to detail, an ability to pick up unfamiliar concepts, systems and procedures quickly, and skills/experience using Microsoft Excel and Geographical Information Systems (e.g. QGIS) for processing and analysing data.
The role may also be required to support other technical areas of the NDI team, including but not limited to highway extent and status investigations, local authority searches, road traffic collision data, and the Local Street Gazetteer (LSG).
