Job description

Job Description

Job Title: Associate Electronics PCB Design Engineer Ref. 956

Department: Engineering

Salary: £36,330 - £39,055

Job description

Salary awarded is based on skills assessment at interview.

This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday, or part-time with a minimum of 28 hours per week. Flexible or compressed working hours are available.

This role is office-based.

Can you design, build, and test electronic circuits and printed circuit boards?

Keen to build your skills and develop your career in engineering?

You’ll join a product development team working on hardware products and solutions to enhance security. You may not know all the details yet, but you will learn quickly.

You’ll use your technical knowledge and ideas to create and maintain electronic hardware for custom-designed security products to meet the needs of partners at home and overseas.

No two days will be the same; one day you might modify an existing design to incorporate a new requirement, and the next you might collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on designing new products and systems.

You’ll receive training and support to develop in this role, along with a training budget for external courses. You will also have time allocated for innovation and research.

More About You

To apply, you should have:

  • Experience in designing and testing analogue, digital, and microcontroller-based systems.
  • An understanding of product and system design and development.
  • Relevant work experience or qualifications, equivalent to or a HND in electrical/electronic engineering.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Additional qualifications in electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering, equivalent to or a 2:2 or higher degree.
  • Experience with electronic schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Experience in RF design, EMC, and signal integrity.
  • A good understanding of PCB manufacturing processes.
Your Personal Skills

You should be someone who:

  • Is eager to learn and improve both technical and non-technical skills.
  • Enjoys working with other engineers, sharing knowledge to achieve better results.
  • Is committed and thorough, seeing projects through to completion.
  • Likes solving challenging problems with innovative solutions.
  • Can manage your workload and adapt to changing demands.
  • Plans improvements proactively.
  • Works collaboratively with partners to understand their needs and expectations.
Putting Your Skills to Use

You will be involved in the full product development process, creating a wide range of designs and systems while working with various partners and engineers. You should be creative and willing to learn and succeed.

Using your diverse skills, you will:

  • Design, develop, and document electronic PCB systems to high standards.
  • Verify designs through testing and peer reviews.
  • Support products and investigate defects.
  • Contribute to library parts creation and management.
  • Participate in project planning and meetings.
What We Offer

We offer:

  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 after 5 years.
  • 8 Bank Holidays plus 2½ additional days off.
