Regional General Manager - Freight Forwarding
Our client, a well-known logistics company, is looking for a Regional General Manager to join their team in the South.
As Regional General Manager, you will oversee and manage all operational, commercial, and strategic functions across southern branch locations. Based in Dartford, travel to other locations under your remit will be required. The successful candidate will drive profitability, ensure compliance, support operational excellence, and lead high-performing teams aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all operations of the southern branches within guidelines provided by the MD.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies focused on profitability, market expansion, and key account retention.
- Drive branch-level strategies to improve net profit through financial oversight, WIPS management, accurate accruals, and cost control.
- Recommend and develop annual business plans, staffing structures, and budgets.
- Execute approved strategies and provide timely reports on deviations or issues.
- Lead structured succession planning, performance reviews, and continuous learning initiatives.
- Set and uphold an ethical and compliant work culture, ensuring adherence to QHSE and compliance standards.
- Oversee the profit and loss performance of southern branches.
- Plan, implement, and monitor branch budgets.
- Support teams in operational cargo movements via air, sea, and road freight.
- Lead commercial negotiations and manage contractual agreements.
- Collaborate with internal offices, commercial teams, agents, and global clients.
- Ensure effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding, break bulk, heavy lift, and special project cargo.
- Extensive experience in a senior executive role within a geographically diverse national or international organization.
- Experience must be UK-based, and you must be based in the UK with the right to work.
- Strong knowledge in strategic planning, financial management, operations, QHSE, and HR management.
- Proven negotiation skills with the ability to manage high-value client and vendor relationships.
- Awareness of relevant regulatory environments within the logistics industry.
