Role Overview:

As a BTL Underwriter, you will play a key role in the underwriting of buy-to-let mortgage applications, particularly those that are more complex in nature. You will work closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams to assess risk, ensure compliance, and make well-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite buy-to-let mortgage applications, ensuring decisions are in line with company policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk appetite.
• Assess the viability of properties and tenants, including reviewing financial statements, business plans, and credit history.
• Collaborate with brokers and clients to resolve queries and provide excellent customer service throughout the underwriting process.
• Conduct thorough checks on property portfolios, including multiple property applications and unconventional income sources.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Buy-to-Let Underwriter.
• Strong understanding of the buy-to-let market and property types, including HMOs, multi-unit blocks, and commercial properties etc.
• In-depth knowledge of underwriting processes, regulatory standards (e.g., FCA, MCD), and lending policies.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex financial data and risk factors.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
