How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*?

Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

4DWW will be rolled out within our school, when we have a full complement of staff, and within the next year – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join us #teamOFG!

Become a Learning Support Assistant at Crookhey Hall School, part of Acorn Education and start working towards yours.

Salary: £20,906.25 per annum (not pro-rata)

Location: Crookhey Hall School, Lancaster, LA2 0HA

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

After 6 weeks in post, you will qualify for the 4-day working week - work 4 days but get paid for 5 days!

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) school catering for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years. We provide young people with an educational experience that extends their academic, vocational, and social skills, promotes personal growth, and helps build self-esteem. Our goal is for each individual to aspire to achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.

Crookhey Hall School is located on a 15-acre site in the countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. A driving license is beneficial due to the location.

The aim is to support pupils in unlocking their potential for fulfilling and productive lives, providing a safe, supervised environment that encourages independence and personal development.

Acorn Education is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist education, part of Outcomes First Group, leading the sector in innovative approaches that deliver measurable outcomes.

In 2024, Outcomes First Group was certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth consecutive year.

The opportunity

Enjoy a rewarding career and make a real impact on pupils’ lives. Join a supportive team in creating enriching, supportive environments where vulnerable pupils can achieve more than they expected.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with pupils, helping them maximize their educational potential. Your responsibilities include preparing learning materials, supporting classroom activities, and addressing emotional and physical needs.

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs is rewarding work, and you will benefit from the support of experienced teams. Your efforts will contribute to significant progress in pupils' lives.

Who we are looking for

You should be adaptable, ready to work in various roles indoors and outdoors, with a qualification in English/Maths. A caring, responsive approach is essential, whether leading activities or supervising pupils outside.

We value teamwork and mutual support. Interested candidates should complete our safeguarding-compliant application form, and a team member will contact you.

Benefits

Your health and wellbeing are important, and we offer an exceptional rewards package including:

  • Life Assurance
  • Pension scheme with optional contributions
  • Access to mental health support and health checks through “Your Wellbeing Matters”

Our Flexible Benefits Platform, Vista, allows you to choose benefits such as:

  • Health, wellbeing, and insurance benefits
  • Discount options in the UK and abroad
  • Cycle to Work Schemes
  • Electric Car Purchase Scheme
  • Critical illness cover
  • Family Growth Support, including enhanced maternity/paternity leave and fertility support

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. All applicants will undergo social media checks and a fully enhanced DBS.

We may close the vacancy early if we receive many suitable applications.

*You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more personal time. 4DWW is subject to successful probation and is not a contractual benefit.
