Job description

Libraries & Academic Enhancement

Overview

Our Information and Library Services Directorate delivers award-winning IT services and support, library, academic, and digital skills, along with learning enhancement to staff and students across the university. Our digital mission is to ensure everyone in our community is equipped to effectively use digital services, data, and technology with confidence, efficiency, and creativity in their learning, teaching, research, and organizational support.

The University of Greenwich is home to a truly global community of staff and students. We value the talents and lived experiences of each individual and support our students to achieve their ambitions because of, not despite, their backgrounds.

Position

We are seeking to appoint an Academic Librarian to support our Science and Engineering subjects at our Medway campus. This role is part of the Academic and Digital Skills Team, which plays a vital role in the student academic journey, supporting transition, attainment, continuation, and progression. Candidates with Science and Engineering experience are particularly encouraged to apply, along with librarians from other backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality library services to staff and students across the university.
  2. Act as the primary contact for academic schools and departments within a faculty.
  3. Collaborate with other librarians to support faculties and adapt to changing portfolios.
  4. Work as part of a team alongside Librarians, Academic Skills Tutors, and Digital Skills Developers.
  5. Deliver digital, information, and academic skills training both online and in person, often embedded into academic programs.
  6. Attend departmental meetings and manage relationships with key staff such as programme leaders.
  7. Develop print and digital collections relevant to the subjects.
  8. Contribute to and lead on team projects.
  9. Support the delivery of the university’s Student Success Strategy and Digital Strategy.
  10. Ensure support is provided effectively across campuses and faculties.
