Job Role: Youth Worker

We are looking for a dedicated Youth Worker to work positively with youth work teams in a community setting. The role involves engaging effectively with young people in their communities and contributing to their learning and development using various educational practices and approaches. The position emphasizes Youth Participation, Youth Accreditation, and working with young people living in poverty.

Responsibilities include:

1. Leading a small team of youth workers to plan, organise, and evaluate youth activities such as arts and crafts, sports events, team challenges, group discussions, project work, Youth Achievement Award projects, and residential learning experiences.
2. Creating an environment where young people can relax, meet friends, build relationships, have fun, and find support.
3. Overseeing the organisation and delivery of safe, supportive, and positive learning and educational activities for youth.
4. Completing personal evaluation materials and supporting the Community Education Worker in delivering learning activities and projects.

The Person:

• Ability to engage positively with young people affected by social inclusion issues, challenging their behaviour and supporting their learning needs.
• Good communication skills and sensitivity to working environments.
• Significant experience working directly with young people in youth work, school, or social work settings.
• Ability to work positively within a team and understanding of group work approaches.
• IT literacy, good literacy and numeracy skills, and ability to write evaluation and update reports for various audiences.

Additional Requirement:

Applicants must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme before appointment.
