Senior Property Accountant

OUR CLIENT is a leading entity in the global real estate industry, focusing on property development, investment, and asset management. They possess a diverse portfolio across the UK, Europe, and other regions, managing commercial spaces, office buildings, shopping centres, and residential properties. Established for many years, the company has expanded through strategic acquisitions and development projects, emphasizing high-quality, large-scale properties in prime locations with a focus on long-term value and sustainability.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee their international property portfolio. The role involves full ownership of financial reporting, including management accounts, budgets, and statutory accounts across multiple jurisdictions and standards.

Role Responsibilities

1. Review quarterly management accounts (P&L, B/S, Cash flow) and monthly cash flows, including variance analysis.
2. Assist with annual budgets and business plans alongside asset managers.
3. Prepare quarterly board papers with variance analysis.
4. Support in board book preparation and collation.
5. Review year-end statutory accounts under IFRS and local GAAP, and prepare IFRS statutory accounts.
6. Liaise with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process.
7. Coordinate with external advisors on tax and corporate matters.
8. Handle corporate administration for non-UK entities in collaboration with legal professionals.
9. Manage inter-company balances and portfolio payments requiring Head Office approval.
10. Review VAT and Tax returns, raising challenges when necessary.
11. Support Asset Managers with financial reviews and lease cashflow modeling.
12. Contribute to internal memoranda and other projects as needed.
13. Perform ad hoc duties related to finance and property management.

Person and Skills Requirements

1. Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) with substantial property/real estate experience.
2. Strong financial and management accounting skills.
3. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
4. Proficient in MS Excel.
5. Experience with international/non-UK entities is advantageous.
6. Willingness to travel overseas occasionally.
