Investigo is partnered with a London-based Property Management business seeking a senior property accountant with a salary circa £75k.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely production of certified service charge accounts.
- Provide up-to-date financial information to Property Directors and leaseholders.
- Meet regularly with the Property Director for your developments to develop scheme knowledge and advise on all financial matters affecting your schemes.
- Lead on entering annual budgets, raising service charge demands to lessees, assisting in collection, and reporting arrears.
- Review ground rent demands, collect ground rent and other lease payments, and ensure timely returns to clients.
- Monitor and control outgoings from client bank accounts, ensuring proper authorization and payments.
- Complete all bank reconciliations monthly.
- Prepare annual and interim service charge accounts, liaising with auditors and reconciling accounts.
- Prepare apportionments of final expenditure, showing charges or credits to lessees.
- Manage void schedules, forecasts, and financial reviews of new blocks.
- Prepare monthly VAT reports for the group client accounts team.
- Post adjustments, close year ends, and upload charges or credits accordingly.
- Maintain transparent accounting records and handle requests for inspection.
- Prepare management reports for stakeholders.
- Ensure ground rent summaries are accurate and timely.
- Report on actual vs. budgeted expenditure quarterly, moving to monthly, explaining accounts to stakeholders.
- Liaise with residents during budget presentations and attend RA meetings.
- Manage external relationships and ensure effective use of accounting systems and controls.
- Assist with reviewing and auditing accounting procedures and client/leaseholder inquiries.
- Plan and monitor budgeting cycles, ensuring activities are delivered on time.
- Monitor insurance activities and ensure compliance with client money regulations.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure controls over service charge monies are adequate.
Requirements
- Ideally ACA, ACCA, or MAAT qualified, or experienced and working towards a professional qualification.
- At least 5 years' experience managing service charge accounting.
- Experience in service charge reporting within practice or a Residential Managing Agent's finance department.
- Experience managing junior accountants and supporting their development.
