JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Teacher - Primary
REPORTS TO: Principal
(Northern Ireland) 1987, Schedule 3, Regulation 5
A teacher, other than a principal, shall carry out professional duties as required:
Teachers shall perform specific duties as reasonably directed by the principal or the employing authority, including but not limited to planning, teaching, assessment, student guidance, staff development, discipline, examination arrangements, management activities, and administrative tasks.
Providing assessments, reports, and references related to pupils.
Participating in staff development schemes, reviewing teaching methods, and engaging in professional training.
Maintaining discipline and safeguarding health and safety in accordance with policies.
Preparing pupils for examinations, assessing, and supervising during exams.
Contributing to staff appointments, managing colleagues' work, and participating in curriculum and organizational development.
Full-time teachers shall work 195 days per year, with specific hours and breaks as detailed, including not more than 25 teaching hours per week in primary schools.
Providing cover for absent colleagues within specified conditions based on school size and policies.
