Construction Estimator
Location: York, PA
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to oversee project planning, cost estimation, budgeting, and bid management. This role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders to develop accurate scopes, optimize costs, and ensure financial alignment for successful project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and clients, to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to develop a comprehensive understanding of the scope of work.
- Prepare scopes for all aspects of the project to ensure accurate bids.
Cost Estimation:- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project expenses.
- Conduct market research to obtain accurate pricing information for construction materials and services.
Budgeting:- Develop and manage project budgets based on cost estimates and financial constraints.
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure financial alignment and compliance with budgetary restrictions.
Risk Management:- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the project and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Collaborate with various teams to implement risk management plans and ensure project success.
Value Engineering:- Explore cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives without compromising quality or integrity.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to optimize designs and construction methods.
Bid Management:- Manage the bidding process, including soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate and compare bids to select the most suitable subcontractors and suppliers for the project.
Team Collaboration:- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to construction phases.
- Foster strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Documentation:- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all preconstruction activities, including cost estimates, budgets, and communication with stakeholders.
Subcontractor/Vendor Vetting:- Continuously search for new contractor/vendor opportunities.
- Properly vet new contractors/vendors based on price, experience, quality, capacity, and service.
- Search for contractors in new markets for future projects.
