Research Manager
Type of contract: Permanent
Location: We welcome applications from candidates based in any country where World Animal Protection has an office, as this is an international role with global reach.
Salary: In the UK, the starting salary is £45,254 per annum with the possibility of up to £49,133 based on an assessment of skills and experience at the interview stage.
For other locations, the salary will be benchmarked using local market data and aligned with internal salary ranges.
Are you passionate about using research to create lasting impact for animals? We’re looking for a skilled and strategic Research Manager to lead the delivery of evidence-based research that supports our global campaigns and programmes. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with campaigners, policy teams, and external partners to design, commission and manage high-quality research projects that drive policy change and influence public and corporate behaviour. You'll ensure our work is underpinned by credible data, with a strong focus on ethical research practices and measurable impact.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and strengthen the way World Animal Protection uses research to influence systems, decision-makers, and communities. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in research management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights. You’ll have a collaborative approach, experience working in a global or cross-cultural environment, and a commitment to making the world a better place for animals.

World Animal Protection is the global voice for animal welfare, with more than 70 years’ experience campaigning for a world where animals live free from cruelty and suffering.
We have offices in 14 countries and work across 47 countries. We collaborate with local communities, the private sector, civil society and governments to change animals’ lives for the better.
Our work to protect animals will play a vital role in solving the climate emergency, the public health crisis, and the devastation of natural habitats. Our goal is to change the way the world works to end animal cruelty and suffering for both wild and farmed animals. Through our global food system strategy, we will end factory farming and create a humane and sustainable food system, that puts animals first. By transforming the broken systems that fuel exploitation and commodification, we will give wild animals the right to a wild life.
