The Role
Expert Clinical Research Nurse providing comprehensive advice and specialist support for clinical staff carrying out Clinical Research, operating across all parts of NHS Lanarkshire. The Research Nurse Manager will manage a Portfolio of Studies - supporting an allocated team* of Clinical Research Nurses, Data Managers and Administrators as their line manager working across a wide range of clinical specialties.
Provides expert professional and clinical leadership for the team in supporting the development and implementation of NHS Lanarkshire’s wider portfolio of Clinical Research Studies, facilitating recruitment into those Clinical Research Studies, maintaining adherence to Clinical Research Protocols, and ensuring, within their capacity, that Clinical Research is carried out in compliance with relevant EU and UK Clinical Trials Legislation.
The Clinical Research Nurse Manager role encompasses the duties of a practicing Senior Clinical Research Nurse supporting a portfolio of studies.
The Research Nurse Manager will manage a team who will together, support a portfolio of studies – across a range of clinical areas. The team and the portfolio of studies will be allocated by the Lead Clinical Research Nurse.
The Lead Clinical Research Nurse will manage the Research Nurse Managers and their teams – the collective teams will be referred to as the ‘wider’ Clinical Research Team’- funded largely via the Board’s Support for Science allocation from the Chief Scientist Office.

What we'll need you to bring
- Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC or HCPC Registration.
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level.
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
- Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality.
- Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in speciality and applying clinical judgement.
- Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.
- A driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence and access to a car.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience of coordinating or managing a team of clinical research nurses/practitioners
- Experience of working in primary care sites
- Demonstrable knowledge of EU Clinical Trials Directive and associated UK legislation governing the conduct of Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs)

This role will be based in the Research & Development Department within University Hospital Monklands
The working pattern for this role Mainly office hours with some flexibility.
