Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd. is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for daily supply cover in Barking and surrounding areas. The role involves supporting pupils with SEND, delivering tailored activities, and helping pupils access the curriculum across different school settings.

You will work with teachers to implement behaviour strategies, monitor progress, and collaborate with SENCOs and external professionals. Salary is paid weekly via PAYE, with access to exclusive deals and wellbeing services.

Qualifications

• Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Has experience supporting pupils with SEND in primary or secondary settings.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience.
• Understands a range of SEND needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Works effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities across a range of school environments.
• Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
• Promote inclusive practices and help pupils access the curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and development.
