Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a passionate Science Teacher for a secondary school in Brighton. The role covers KS3 and KS4, delivering Biology, Chemistry and Physics in line with the curriculum and GCSE preparation.

Immediate start and a full-time, permanent contract on MPS1–UPS3 scale. You will plan engaging lessons, promote scientific enquiry and ensure safe practical activities, while fostering student confidence and a love of science.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or be an eligible ECT.
• Have a relevant degree or strong subject knowledge in Science.
• Be confident teaching Science at secondary level, particularly KS3 and KS4.
• Demonstrate effective lesson planning, assessment and classroom management.
• Be able to explain scientific concepts clearly and accurately.
• Understand the importance of safe practice during practical activities.
• Have high expectations for student achievement and conduct.
• Be committed to professional development and collaborative working.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-planned Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics according to your subject expertise.
• Prepare students for GCSE Science assessments and examinations.
• Use demonstrations, investigations and practical tasks to reinforce concepts.
• Teach students to interpret data and draw evidence-based conclusions.
• Ensure practical activities follow safety procedures.
• Assess students’ understanding and provide actionable feedback.
• Identify gaps in learning and adapt teaching to support progress.
• Provide additional support and challenge for different abilities.
• Maintain positive classroom relationships and high expectations for behaviour.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and develop consistent teaching approaches.
• Contribute to departmental meetings and curriculum planning.
