Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a primary school in Wigan. The role starts in September and is initially temporary with a strong potential to become permanent.

You will deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS to KS2, cover classes during PPA/absences, and manage behaviour to create a safe learning environment. A pathway to a permanent contract is in place with SLT support.

Qualifications

• Formal HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience or teaching qualification).
• Confident classroom presence with excellent behaviour management skills.
• Flexibility and resilience with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
• Cover classes independently to support teachers during PPA or short-term absences.
• Manage classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
• Adapt to different year groups quickly and seamlessly.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and class teachers to provide feedback on pupil progress.
