Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a welcoming primary school in Tiverton, Devon. The role starts September 2026 and is full-time, requiring HLTA status or equivalent.

You will work with teachers to deliver high-quality learning across the curriculum, lead small groups, and support planning, assessment, and pupil welfare. The successful candidate will have strong classroom management, excellent communication, and a proactive, flexible

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Confidence leading learning activities independently.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Proactive, flexible, and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support and, where appropriate, lead whole-class learning under teacher direction.
• Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions.
• Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities.
• Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment.
