Job summary

Tradewind Education is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of General Science to join a welcoming secondary academy in Barnsley on a temporary basis, starting mid-September 2026. Teach KS3 and KS4 with engaging lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking and academic achievement.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching General Science within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes excellent behaviour and engagement.
• Support students in achieving their academic potential and developing a passion for Science.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives and uphold the academy's policies and procedures.
• Attend relevant meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.
