Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting an English Teacher for a secondary school in the Birmingham area (B18) for a full-time long-term supply assignment from 2 November 2026 until Christmas.

You will deliver English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, support GCSE preparation, maintain high expectations and manage behaviour effectively. QTS or QTLS required; strong classroom management essential.

Qualifications

• This role requires QTS or QTLS and experience teaching English in a secondary school.
• Strong behaviour management is essential to establish expectations from the outset.
• Must deliver GCSE-level English with confidence in Language and Literature.
• Candidate should be organised and adaptable for a full teaching timetable.
• Applications welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teaching English Language and Literature in line with departmental schemes of work.
• Supporting GCSE pupils with examination preparation and developing reading, writing and analytical skills.
• Maintaining strong classroom routines and managing behaviour confidently.
• Adapting teaching to support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
• Marking, assessing and monitoring pupil progress.
• Working collaboratively with the English department and wider school staff.
