Job summary

Aspire People is seeking qualified English teachers to cover across East Birmingham, including Small Heath, Bordesley Green, Sparkhill, Yardley and surrounding areas. We welcome experienced teachers and ECTs, offering daily supply, short-term, weekly bookings, and long-term opportunities.

You will deliver English language and literature across KS3/KS4, support GCSE groups, teach Shakespeare and modern drama, and help develop pupils' literacy and writing skills.

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE WE RECRUITING FOR?

We are building our candidate pool for future daily supply, short-term cover, regular weekly bookings and long-term English teaching requirements across East Birmingham.

Depending on school requirements, assignments may involve:

• Delivering English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.
• Supporting GCSE examination groups with reading, writing and analytical skills.
• Teaching a range of literary texts, including Shakespeare, poetry, prose and modern drama.
• Developing pupils' literacy, communication and written expression.
• Supporting pupils with different abilities, including those requiring additional literacy support.
• Delivering A Level English where appropriate.

Longer-term positions may involve planning, marking, assessment and contributing to the wider English department.

These are prospective opportunities rather than a confirmed vacancy at a specific school.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You will need QTS or QTLS, strong English subject knowledge and experience delivering lessons within a secondary school environment.

Effective behaviour management is particularly important. We are looking for teachers who can establish clear expectations, maintain positive classroom routines and keep pupils engaged throughout lessons.

Experience teaching GCSE English Language and Literature would be particularly valuable.

You should be adaptable, reliable and confident supporting pupils with different learning needs and levels of attainment.
