Job summary

Hupsoo Ltd in Wickford is seeking a Customs and Operations Clerk to support import/export customs and operations. The role entails handling customs entries, liaising with stakeholders, and keeping clients informed of shipment progress.

The successful candidate will understand international trade, stay updated on regulation changes, and promote our core values within a fast-paced team. A strong service mindset and collaborative approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding of international trade and customs processes.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
• Proactive, dynamic, and willing to take responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience with a customs broker, freight forwarder or company with international trade is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completing customs entries for both imports and exports.
• Managing customs enquiries and audits, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
• Be aware of legislation and changes in regulation impacting customs processes.
• Monitor the Customs duty/VAT deferment statements to ensure that all deferred amounts are correct and that guarantee limits are not exceeded.
• Tracking import shipments and providing timely shipment updates to clients.
• Organising collections and deliveries.
• Learn all aspects of the import and export process;
• Obtain and communicate, internally and externally, all necessary information to ensure correct measures are in place and customer needs are met;
• Liaise between Hauliers, Suppliers and agents to obtain up to date shipment information.
• Ensure customers are fully informed of the progress of their shipments;
• Provide transport companies with the relevant information to ensure customer delivery requirements are met;
• Ensure correct documentation is on file and act accordingly as set out in the instructions;
• Maintain all files ensuring they are costed and billed correctly in accordance with procedures provided by management;
• Cover the export operations when required;
• Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department;and
• Complete all related apprenticeship work as required.
