Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is partnering with a school in Sturminster Newton to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant for a long-term/ongoing position with an immediate start. The role involves supporting pupils, assisting teachers, and helping deliver engaging learning activities across the day.

You'll work with a supportive classroom team, fostering inclusion and encouraging pupil participation. Prior TA or LSA experience is welcome, as is transferable experience from childcare or tutoring.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and develop understanding of different learning needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with children and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Supporting individual pupils who require additional assistance
• Working with groups of pupils during classroom activities
• Helping teachers deliver planned learning activities
• Reinforcing key concepts and instructions
• Supporting reading, writing, numeracy and other curriculum activities
• Encouraging pupils to participate and remain engaged
• Helping children develop their confidence and independence
• Providing encouragement when pupils find learning challenging
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom expectations
• Assisting pupils during transitions between activities
• Helping prepare learning materials and classroom resources
• Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime when required
• Sharing observations with teachers and other members of the support team
• Contributing towards a welcoming and inclusive school environment
