Teaching Personnel are working with a school in Sturminster Newton who are looking to appoint a motivated Full-Time Teaching Assistant to become part of their classroom support team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants a varied and rewarding role within education. You will be working directly with pupils and supporting teachers to ensure children are able to participate fully in school life.
The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, graduate or someone with strong transferable experience who is looking to move into education.
No two days as a Teaching Assistant are exactly the same. You will help create a classroom environment where pupils feel supported, encouraged and able to learn.
Your responsibilities could include:
Supporting individual pupils who require additional assistance
Working with groups of pupils during classroom activities
Helping teachers deliver planned learning activities
Reinforcing key concepts and instructions
Supporting reading, writing, numeracy and other curriculum activities
Encouraging pupils to participate and remain engaged
Helping children develop their confidence and independence
Providing encouragement when pupils find learning challenging
Supporting positive behaviour and classroom expectations
Assisting pupils during transitions between activities
Helping prepare learning materials and classroom resources
Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime when required
Sharing relevant observations with teachers and other members of the support team
Contributing towards a welcoming and inclusive school environment

Previous experience working with children is desirable, but Teaching Personnel will consider candidates with transferable experience. This could include childcare, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, care work or volunteering with children and young people.
Every pupil has different strengths, personalities and learning styles. You will therefore be expected to adapt your approach depending on the child and situation.
Some pupils may need additional help with their learning, communication, confidence, social development or behaviour.
Experience supporting SEND or pupils with additional needs would be advantageous, but it is not essential for the role.
A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of different learning needs is just as important.
