Job summary

Synergize Consulting Ltd is seeking a DV Cleared Systems Engineer to join a small, specialist team responsible for design, build, security and documentation of distributed infrastructure.

This hands-on and design-oriented role requires a technical specialist who can work autonomously while contributing across project workstreams and supporting wider activities. You will develop secure infrastructure solutions across Windows and virtualization domains.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Windows 10/11 engineering and Windows internals.
• Experience applying NCSC, vendor or equivalent security hardening standards.
• Experience with virtualisation/hypervisor technologies and MFA/Identity & Access Management.
• Demonstrable evidence of building and securing systems to mission-critical standards.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for evaluation and development of Windows client OS infrastructure from concept through to handover.
• Evaluate and manage client hardware, including vendor support, vulnerability mitigation and End-of-Life planning.
• Evaluate, design and deploy hypervisor solutions to support system requirements.
• Create secure Windows 10/11 Gold Image builds with security as the primary consideration.
• Harden operating systems by disabling non-essential services and telemetry to reduce attack surface.
• Support design and implementation of MFA capabilities and system management including logging, updates and patches.
• Maintain consistency across deployments through strict version control and repeatable build processes.
• Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and handover to service management.

Synergize Consulting is currently seeking a DV Cleared Systems Engineer to join a small, specialist team responsible for the design, build, security and documentation of distributed and scalable infrastructure.

This is a hands-on and design-oriented role for a technical specialist who can work autonomously while contributing across a small team and supporting wider project workstreams.

You will be responsible for evaluating, designing and developing secure infrastructure solutions across virtualisation, client hardware and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the evaluation and development of Windows client OS infrastructure, from initial concept through to technical handover.
• Evaluate and manage client hardware, including vendor support, vulnerability mitigation and End-of-Life planning.
• Evaluate, design and deploy hypervisor solutions to support system requirements.
• Create secure Windows 10/11 Gold Image builds, with security as the primary consideration.
• Harden operating systems by disabling non-essential services and telemetry to reduce the potential attack surface.
• Apply appropriate vendor, NCSC and equivalent security standards.
• Support the design and implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) capabilities.
• Support system management capabilities including logging, updates and patching.
• Maintain consistency across multiple deployments through strict version control and repeatable build processes.
• Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Work to strict project milestones and deliver high-quality technical outputs with minimal supervision.
• Support wider technical workstreams and capabilities as required to achieve project objectives.
• Contribute to the technical handover of completed systems into service management.

Required Skills & Experience

Windows Engineering

• Strong experience with Windows 10/11 engineering and Windows internals.
• Proven ability to harden Windows operating systems.
• Experience applying NCSC, vendor or equivalent security hardening standards.
• Experience creating secure Windows Gold Images.

Virtualisation

• Proven experience deploying and networking hypervisor technologies.
• Experience with KVM-based or proprietary hypervisors.

Infrastructure & Security

• Experience with secure infrastructure design and deployment.
• Understanding of vulnerability mitigation and system life cycle management.
• Experience with MFA/Identity & Access Management.
• Experience with system logging, patching and updates.
• Strong understanding of secure configuration and repeatable deployments.

Technical Delivery

• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Experience taking infrastructure from design through build and technical handover.
• Strong attention to detail and personal ownership of technical output.
• Ability to work independently against demanding project milestones.

Essential

• Active DV clearance
• Previous experience delivering secure infrastructure within the UK Defence or National Security sector.
• Strong Windows engineering and hardening experience.
• Practical experience with virtualisation/hypervisor technologies.
• Demonstrable evidence of building and securing systems to mission-critical standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a small specialist team.
