Job summary

Applause IT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a security-focused Birmingham team. The role blends Windows Server administration with enterprise networking to maintain secure, resilient IT services.

You will manage Active Directory, LAN/WAN, firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, FortiGate), VPNs, and monitoring. Collaboration with engineers and strong documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Infrastructure, Systems, or Network Engineer in enterprise IT.
• Active Directory administration experience.
• Strong TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and connectivity troubleshooting knowledge.
• Experience with enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, FortiGate).
• Experience supporting VPN connectivity or remote access solutions.
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Security-cleared or DV eligible for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support Windows Server infrastructure and core IT systems.
• Administer and support Active Directory environments.
• Support LAN, WAN, and network infrastructure.
• Configure and maintain firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, FortiGate).
• Support VPN connectivity and secure remote access.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and network issues across server and network environments.
• Monitor performance and resolve incidents; maintain documentation and diagrams.
• Assist with incident response and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineers to maintain secure, resilient systems.
