The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd in London seeks a DV Cleared Developer to build secure systems for Defence & Government clients. You’ll design and implement across the stack, translate requirements, and work with technical leads and clients.
Expect a fast-moving environment with a flat structure, equity, flexible hours around a core London office day, and a learning budget to keep skills current; DV clearance is essential.
Step into this DV Cleared Developer role and build something that matters in Defence & Government.
A fast-growing technology company in the Defence & Government space is hiring a DV Cleared Developer to join its London team. The work here touches national security infrastructure, so clearance isn't a box-ticking exercise. It's the price of entry to genuinely consequential engineering, and the small, flat team behind it moves quickly and expects its developers to do the same.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Design and build secure software systems for government and defence clients, working across the full stack where needed
Write clean, well-tested code that meets strict security and compliance standards from day one
Work directly with technical leads and clients to translate operational requirements into working software
Review code, mentor junior engineers, and help shape technical decisions as the team grows
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in live secure environments, often under time pressure
Contribute to architecture decisions on systems that handle sensitive data
Here are the skills you'll need:
Active DV clearance (essential) or current eligibility with a willingness to undergo vetting
Solid commercial experience as a developer, ideally 3+ years, with strong fundamentals in at least one modern language
Comfort working in secure, air-gapped, or otherwise restricted environments
Good judgement under ambiguity. Startup environments don't hand you a detailed spec for everything
Clear communication skills, since you'll be explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
A genuine interest in defence and government technology, not just the clearance premium
Key perks and benefits:
Salary of £53,000 to £77,500, depending on experience
Equity in a growing company, not just a salary line
Flexible working hours around a core London office day
Learning and development budget to keep your skills current
A flat structure where your input actually changes what gets built
Why pursue a career in Defence & Government?
Defence & Government technology spending in the UK keeps climbing, and London remains its centre of gravity. DV cleared professionals are in short supply relative to demand, which means strong pay, real job security, and a faster route into senior technical roles than most other sectors offer. Few fields let you see your work matter at national scale.
