• Own delivery of complex Defence & Government programmes from initiation to closeout across multiple workstreams, managing scope, budget and schedule.
• Act as the primary contact for government stakeholders and translate progress into actionable reporting.
• Manage security-cleared teams and subcontractors; ensure resourcing and clearances align with milestones.
• Identify and mitigate programme risk; apply senior judgement over process.
• Chair governance boards and steering meetings; hold suppliers and internal teams to commitments.
• Maintain compliance with MOD and government project frameworks throughout delivery lifecycle.

Defence programmes in the UK run on people who can hold a complex build together under scrutiny, cleared personnel who understand both the technical detail and the security context. This is an enterprise organisation with 250+ staff, a recognised name in Defence & Government delivery, running large-scale programmes for government clients. They need a Cleared Project Manager who's done this before and doesn't need the basics explained twice.

Here's what you'll be doing:

• Own delivery of complex Defence & Government programmes from initiation through to closeout, managing scope, budget and schedule across multiple workstreams
• Act as the primary point of contact for government stakeholders, translating technical progress into clear reporting they can act on
• Manage security-cleared teams and subcontractors, making sure resourcing and clearances stay aligned with programme milestones
• Identify and mitigate programme risk before it becomes programme cost. This is a senior role, so judgement matters as much as process
• Chair governance boards and steering meetings, holding suppliers and internal teams to agreed commitments
• Maintain compliance with MOD and government project frameworks throughout the delivery lifecycle

• Proven track record managing large-scale programmes within Defence & Government, ideally MOD or wider public sector
