Job description

Senior Technical Implementation Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Technical Implementation Engineer to join our UK team. We are a fast-growing defence technology organisation working at the convergence of technology and national security.

This is a dynamic, hands‑on role focused on deploying and scaling a secure DevSecOps platform across UK Government, NATO, and secure cloud environments.

This is an individual contributor position suited to a technically strong engineer who is comfortable operating independently, managing complex deployments end‑to‑end, and engaging directly with senior stakeholders. You will act as the primary technical presence within UK customer environments, working closely with international engineering and product teams to ensure successful delivery.

Security Clearance Requirement

This position requires the holder to hold, or be eligible to obtain, Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. Candidates must be UK nationals (or hold dual nationality with the UK as one nationality) and have sufficient UK residency history to be sponsored for DV. Active DV clearance is strongly preferred. This role cannot be progressed without clearance eligibility.

Location

Hybrid remote (UK-based). The role requires frequent travel to customer and partner sites across the UK and NATO to support customer requirements. Candidates must be based within the UK and willing to travel as required.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the full lifecycle of technical implementations within UK Government and secure cloud environments, from initial scoping through to live deployment, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and to the required security and quality standards.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for UK customers during implementation, providing regular updates, managing expectations and resolving issues with minimal escalation.
  • Provide hands‑on expertise with Kubernetes across deployment, configuration and troubleshooting, ensuring best practices are applied consistently within classified and sensitive environments.
  • Coordinate technical requirements across Product, Engineering and Commercial teams, identifying and resolving blockers proactively.
  • Implement and improve processes and tooling that increase implementation efficiency and quality, incorporating customer feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of UK‑specific deployment patterns and technical documentation supporting growth within the UK Defence, NATO and National Security markets.
  • Take a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to resolving technical and procedural challenges.
  • Use AI tools (such as Claude and Gemini) to improve productivity across coding, debugging, documentation, research and problem solving, while exercising appropriate human judgement.
Skills You'll Bring
  • 5+ years' experience within Technical Implementation, DevOps or a similar engineering discipline, delivering complex technical projects independently.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
  • Docker
  • Keycloak
  • Container orchestration
  • Experience deploying and managing applications at scale.
  • Experience using Git, Jira and other project management or ticketing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior government personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in fast‑paced environments.
  • Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
  • Relevant certifications such as CKA, AWS or Azure are advantageous.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within Defence, National Security, SaaS or cloud‑based environments.
  • Knowledge of UK Government security and compliance frameworks, including:
  • JSP 604
  • Secure by Design
  • Experience across multiple cloud platforms including:
  • AWS
  • GCP
What Success Looks Like
  • Viewing obstacles as opportunities for growth.
  • Taking ownership and maintaining a strong bias towards action.
  • Providing constructive, compassionate and direct feedback.
  • Being collaborative, inclusive and team‑oriented.
  • Private healthcare (medical, dental and optical).
  • Employer pension contribution.
  • Wellness benefits.
  • Equity incentive scheme.
  • Home office and technology allowance.
  • Flexible annual leave plus UK public holidays.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • Remote‑first working with travel expenses covered.
Employment Information

We are an equal opportunities employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. Applications are welcomed regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Due to the DV clearance requirement, candidates must be UK nationals or hold qualifying dual nationality and satisfy UKSV residency requirements. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a full‑time permanent role. Salary will be discussed during the recruitment process. Reasonable adjustments are available throughout the recruitment process where required.
