Job summary

Exeter Chiefs is seeking an experienced duty manager for Sandy Park's conference, banqueting and catering operations. The role leads the front-of-house team, ensures events run smoothly and delivers high standards of customer service.

Hours are 40 per week across 5 days with evenings and weekends as required; a 5% performance bonus is included and on-site parking is available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospitality.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory role in hospitality.
• Professional and well presented at all times.
• Able to lead and manage staff proactively.
• Good communication with people at all levels.
• Sound knowledge of audio visual equipment.
• Able to work unsupervised and responsible for equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of Sandy Park Conference & Banqueting centre.
• Set up events and match day rooms per function sheets.
• Deliver conference/banqueting requirements to the client to high standards.
• Lead events supervisors and casual staff daily.
• Oversee AV equipment and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain high levels of customer service to encourage repeat business.
• Attend weekly planning meetings and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Adhere to licensing, safety, and data protection regulations.

Reports to: Head of food & beverage and senior operations manager

Hours: 40 hours per week 5 out of 7 days with flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as per the rota

Plus: 5% performance related bonus

Key responsibilities:

• To ensure the day-to-day operation of Sandy Park Conference & Banqueting centre is managed effectively
• Ensure that all Sandy Park events and match day rooms are set up correctly, as per the function sheets
• Ensure all conference and banqueting requirements are delivered to the client as expected, and to the highest standards at all times
• Manage the variety of AV equipment requirements for events, handling any issues that may arise quickly
• Take daily responsibility for leading the events supervisors, events assistants and any other casual bar/catering staff in the jobs required on any given day
• Always look at the big picture at Sandy Park in order to be able to lead the front of house team, day to day
• Attend weekly meetings to assist with planning
• Maintain a high standard of customer service at all times, continually encouraging repeat business
• Be accountable for all Sandy Park equipment, ensuring any loss or damage is reported immediately and rectified
• Ensure that following events equipment is returned to correct locations and rooms left presentable
• Adhere to licensing law, data protection, fire procedures, risk assessments, health & safety, COSHH and any other legislation relating to the role at all times

Person specification

• Have at least 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry
• Have at least 1 year experience in a supervisory position within the hospitality industry
• Be professional and well presented at all times
• Be able to lead and manage staff proactively
• Be able to communicate well with people at all levels
• Be able to prioritise duties
• Be a team player
• Be able to work unsupervised in any environment
• Be confident, patient, friendly, reliable and self-motivated
• Have their own form of transport
