Job summary

Flashpoint Bristol is seeking a part-time All-Rounder who will also cover Duty Manager shifts at Freedog / Flashpoint Bristol – Temple Meads, Bristol, in person.

You will deliver great customer service in a busy environment, assist with centre operations, safety checks and cash handling, and support leadership on shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ customer service experience.
• Experience in climbing, leisure or active environment preferred.
• First Aid or relevant training beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service as part of the All-Rounder team.
• Maintain knowledge of Freedog and Flashpoint policies and procedures.
• Complete daily operational, cleaning and safety tasks.
• When Duty Manager is on shift, act as key holder and centre lead.
• Manage, motivate and support the on-floor team.
• Conduct health and safety checks and floor walks.
• Handle cash and complete shift records accurately.
• Address customer or staff feedback and concerns promptly.

£13.65 p/h when assigned as on-shift Duty Manager
Minimum 60 hours per month

As a Cover Duty Manager, your primary role will be as an All-Rounder, working across the centre and delivering excellent customer service. You'll also be trained to cover Duty Manager shifts, taking responsibility for the centre and on-floor team when assigned as the on-shift Duty Manager.

It's a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is dependable, confident taking responsibility and keen to develop their leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service as part of the All-Rounder team
• Maintain strong knowledge of Freedog and Flashpoint products, policies and procedures
• Complete daily operational, cleaning and safety tasks
• When assigned as Duty Manager, act as key holder and take responsibility for the centre on shift
• Manage, motivate and support the on-floor team
• Complete health and safety checks and regular floor walks
• Ensure accurate cash handling, financial reporting and shift records
• Act as the first point of contact for customer or staff feedback, complaints and concerns
• Communicate maintenance, operational, staff welfare and performance concerns to the management team
• Support compliance with risk assessments, procedures and centre policies
• Provide first aid and emergency support where required
• Minimum 2 years’ customer service experience
• Strong reliability, attendance and professionalism
• Friendly and professional approach
• Good judgement and the ability to remain calm when situations change
• Confidence taking responsibility and making decisions
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to support and coach colleagues on shift
• Good understanding of the importance of health and safety, risk assessments and centre procedures
• Computer literate, including use of Google Workspace
• Flexibility to provide Duty Manager cover where reasonably possible

We don't expect you to tick every box. Previous formal line-management or Duty Manager experience isn't essential, and training and support will be provided.

• Experience working in climbing, leisure or another active environment
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience supporting or coaching other team members
• Confidence handling customer complaints or difficult interactions
• Reception or administrative experience
• Experience using Rock Gym Pro or a similar booking system
• First Aid qualification or relevant existing training
• An interest in climbing, sport or active leisure
• An interest in progressing into Duty Management or other leadership opportunities
• Free climbing across the Flashpoint Group
