Job summary

The Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Hotel Duty Manager to oversee daily operations and uphold exceptional service across all departments. You will act as the main guest contact during shifts, resolve complaints and support Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B and Maintenance to ensure seamless operations.

With proven leadership, calmness under pressure and strong communication skills, you will drive guest satisfaction, staff performance and adherence to safety procedures,

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager or Front Office Supervisor within a hotel environment.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel while maintaining exceptional service standards across all departments.
• Act as the main point of contact for guests during your shift, resolving complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Support and coordinate operational departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance, to ensure seamless hotel operations.
• Carry out regular hotel walkarounds to ensure high standards of presentation, cleanliness and safety are maintained.
• Handle guest enquiries, feedback and escalated issues professionally and efficiently.
• Monitor occupancy, arrivals, departures and VIP guests to ensure operational readiness throughout each shift.
• Support Reception during busy periods, including check-in/check-out where required.
• Complete shift reports, handovers and communicate effectively with department managers.
• Respond confidently to emergencies and incidents, following company procedures at all times.
• Support departmental managers in achieving operational and guest satisfaction targets.

About Us

The Scotsman Group is Scotland’s largest and most diverse hospitality group, with a collection of over 40 venues across Scotland including bars, restaurants, hotels and more. We are looking for an experienced and talented Hotel Duty Manager to join our fantastic The Scotsman Hotel.

The Role

• Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel while maintaining exceptional service standards across all departments

The Person

• Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager or Front Office Supervisor within a hotel environment
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• A hands-on approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Experience using Opera Cloud or a similar PMS would be preferred
• Knowledge of hotel operations and health & safety procedures
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
