Demelza is seeking a temporary retail shop assistant to support two charity shops in Earl Street and Royal Star Arcade. You will receive, sort and prepare donated items for sale, promote Gift Aid and help keep displays and the shop floor welcoming for customers and donors.

The role is 30 hours per week across seven days, with some bank holidays, and requires good communication, flexibility and enthusiasm for customer service.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills.
• Customer-focused and enthusiastic about working with people.
• Organised and adaptable.
• Able to manage a varied workload on own initiative.
• Comfortable using Microsoft 365 and other digital systems.
• Nice to have: Previous experience in a customer-facing role.

Responsabilités

• Receive, sort and prepare donated items for sale
• Deliver excellent service to customers and donors
• Promote Gift Aid
• Maximise income through stock presentation and customer service
• Support the day-to-day operation of both shops
• Help create a welcoming, safe and well-presented shop environment alongside staff and volunteers
• Support visual merchandising and shop displays to attract customers and drive sales
• Work flexibly across the seven-day trading week, including some bank holidays
