Job summary

Royal Mencap Society is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager for our Castleford shop. The role is 22.5 hours per week across three days on a permanent basis, with a seven-day rota. You will drive donations, sales, and Gift Aid while maintaining store standards and leading staff and volunteers.

You will manage budgets, weekly income, banking, and be flexible to cover weekends and bank holidays, with travel to occasional meetings and training as needed.

Qualifications

• An experienced assistant manager or Supervisor capable of maintaining budgets and completing weekly income and banking sheets accurately.
• Preferably with previous charity retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Help develop in-store systems and promote donations and sales to maximise profits.
• Represent Mencap as an efficient and charitable organisation by aligning actions with Mencap aims and values.
• Ensure stock is sourced from the local area and from donors.
• Sign up donors to Gift Aid and maximise income through Gift Aid.
• Achieve profit targets by maximising sales and controlling costs.
• Maintain store presentation to a high standard.
• Build and train a volunteer team and conduct reviews with paid staff and volunteers.
• Oversee cash handling and health and safety.
