Job summary

Gillespie Recruitment Ltd vacancy for a Deputy Manager (Dual Role) to supervise two children’s residential homes in Sunderland. You’ll oversee daily operations, lead staff teams and ensure high standards of care.

The role emphasises safeguarding, Ofsted compliance, and outcome-focused support for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. This is a permanent, full-time role with training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in a children's residential care setting.
• Experience supporting children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Children's Homes Regulations.
• Experience working within an Ofsted-regulated service.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of two children's residential homes.
• Lead, supervise and develop residential care teams.

• Promote person-centred, therapeutic and outcome-focused care.

• Support workforce planning, staffing rotas and service delivery.
• Contribute to audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with families, social workers and external professionals.
• Participate in the management on-call rota.
• Maintain accurate records, care plans and compliance documentation.
• Support the achievement of positive outcomes for children and young people.

Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager (Dual Role) on behalf of a growing organisation that provides specialist residential care and support for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about making a difference. Supporting the operation of two children's homes in Sunderland, you'll play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, maintaining Ofsted compliance, and helping children and young people reach their full potential.

Working closely with senior management, you'll support staff teams, promote a positive and therapeutic environment, and contribute to the ongoing success and development of both services.

Key Responsibilities

About You
