Gillespie Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a growing organisation providing specialist residential care and support for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs in Sunderland. The Deputy Manager (Dual Role) will support two children's homes, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and Ofsted compliance.

You will lead care teams, manage staff, contribute to audits and service development, and drive person-centred, therapeutic outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' experience within a children's residential care setting.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Children's Homes Regulations.
  • Experience working within an Ofsted-regulated service.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Compassionate, resilient and committed to delivering outstanding care.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of two children's residential homes
  • Lead, supervise and develop residential care teams
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures and Quality Standards
  • Promote person-centred, therapeutic and outcome-focused care
  • Support children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs
  • Assist with recruitment, training, supervision and performance management of staff
  • Support workforce planning, staffing rotas and service delivery
  • Contribute to audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build positive relationships with families, social workers and external professionals
  • Participate in the management on-call rota
  • Maintain accurate records, care plans and compliance documentation
  • Support the achievement of positive outcomes for children and young people

Education

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to work towards

Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager (Dual Role) on behalf of a growing organisation that provides specialist residential care and support for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about making a difference. Supporting the operation of two children's homes in Sunderland, you'll play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, maintaining Ofsted compliance, and helping children and young people reach their full potential.

Working closely with senior management, you'll support staff teams, promote a positive and therapeutic environment, and contribute to the ongoing success and development of both services.

Key Responsibilities
