Job summary

Orion Smart Metering is seeking experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our growing national contracts. The role involves installing smart meters in domestic properties, delivering a professional and customer-focused service, and ensuring safety/compliance standards are met.

Successful candidates will hold CMA1/CCN1/MET1 and MOCOPA certifications (or complete during induction) with a full UK driving licence and a clear DBS check.

Qualifications

• Smart Meter Engineering qualification or diploma required.
• CMA1, CCN1 and MET1 certifications preferred.
• MOCOPA certification or completion during induction is acceptable.
• Full UK driving licence is essential; DBS check recent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install smart meters safely and efficiently in domestic properties.
• Deliver a professional, customer-focused service.
• Ensure all work meets industry safety and compliance standards.
• Represent Orion Smart Metering as part of a nationwide engineering team.

Job description

At Orion Smart Metering, we’re proud to work with some of the UK’s biggest energy and metering companies.

As we continue to grow our national contracts, we’re looking for experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our expanding team.

The Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers need to live in any of the following postcodes: B23-24, B33-37, B40, B72-73 or B75-76

Pay & Package Options

1. Salary Package
   • £43000 rising to £45,000 per annum after completion of 3 month probation.
   • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
   • Company van, fuel card, tools & uniform provided
2. Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 1
   • £200 per day
   • Paid via Umbrella PAYE
   • Company van, fuel card, tools & uniform provided
3. Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 2
   • £275 per day
   • Paid via Umbrella PAYE
   • Engineer provides own van & fuel
   • Tools & uniform provided

Bonus Breakdown

Boost your earnings with monthly incentives:

• KPI Bonus – £150 per month
  • Achieved by hitting 75% job completion in a calendar month
• Attendance Bonus – £150 per month
  • Awarded for full attendance with no sick days
  • Pro-rated for holidays

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm (1-hour lunch)
• Minimum 4 jobs per day / 20 per week
• Optional weekend work available once weekly targets are met

Call Out

• 1 week in 4 rota
• Standby payments Monday–Sunday
• Per job rates:
  • £150 per dual install
  • £80 per single
  • £50 per transactional job
• Saturday work available (paid at day rate)

Driving licence, passport, gas certificates, MOCOPA, qualifications, NI number, references, and DBS.
