Job summary

Orion Smart Metering is seeking experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our expanding team across the UK. Postcode areas include B23-24, B33-37, B40, B72-73 or B75-76, with salary from £43,000 rising to £45,000 after a 3‑month probation.

Benefits include a company van, fuel card, tools and uniform, plus 33 days holiday. Day-rate options (£200 or £275) are available via umbrella PAYE, with weekend work potential and call‑out rota.

Qualifications

• Requires smart meter engineering qualification or diploma.
• CMA1 and CCN1 with MET1 certificates preferred.
• MOCOPA certification or induction completion preferred.
• Full UK driving licence and DBS within 3 months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install smart meters safely in domestic properties.
• Deliver professional, customer-focused service.
• Ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards.
• Represent Orion as part of a nationwide engineering team.

Job description

At Orion Smart Metering, we’re proud to work with some of the UK’s biggest energy and metering companies.

As we continue to grow our national contracts, we’re looking for experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our expanding team.

The Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers need to live in any of the following postcodes: B23-24, B33-37, B40, B72-73 or B75-76

Pay & Package Options

Choose the option that suits your circumstances:

Salary Package

• £43000 rising to £45,000 per annum after completion of 3 month probation.
• 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
• Company van, fuel card, tools & uniform provided

Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 1

• £200 per day
• Paid via Umbrella PAYE
• Company van, fuel card, tools & uniform provided

Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 2

• £275 per day
• Paid via Umbrella PAYE
• Engineer provides own van & fuel
• Tools & uniform provided

Bonus Breakdown

Boost your earnings with monthly incentives:

KPI Bonus – £150 per month

• Achieved by hitting 75% job completion in a calendar month

Attendance Bonus – £150 per month

• Awarded for full attendance with no sick days
• Pro-rated for holidays

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm (1-hour lunch)
• Minimum 4 jobs per day / 20 per week
• Optional weekend work available once weekly targets are met

Call Out

• 1 week in 4 rota
• Standby payments Monday–Sunday
• Per job rates:
  • £150 per dual install
  • £80 per single
  • £50 per transactional job

Saturday work available (paid at day rate)

Requirements

• Smart Meter Engineering qualification or diploma
• CMA1 or CCN1 & MET1
• MOCOPA certification (or completed during induction)
• Full UK driving licence
• Clean DBS check (recent within 3 months preferred)
• EUSR card (advantageous, not essential)

Documents required:

Driving licence, passport, gas certificates, MOCOPA, qualifications, NI number, references, and DBS.
