Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is seeking an experienced Design & Technology Technician in Tottenham, North London, to support the delivery of practical DT lessons in a large secondary school. You will prepare materials, set up workshops and maintain equipment to ensure safe, high-quality teaching environments.

The role requires hands-on experience with workshop machinery, a good working knowledge of health and safety, and the ability to work closely with teaching staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in a DT department, school workshop or engineering environment.
• Ability to operate laser cutters, pillar drills and bandsaws.
• Experience using a range of hand and power tools and workshop machinery.
• Strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
• Ability to carry out basic maintenance and equipment checks.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and with teaching staff.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tools, materials and equipment for DT lessons.
• Set up workshops and practical teaching spaces.
• Operate and maintain laser cutters, pillar drills, bandsaws and workshop machinery.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment.
• Ensure machinery and tools are stored safely.
• Support teachers during practical DT lessons.
• Maintain stock levels and organise materials.
• Assist with ordering equipment and resources.
• Keep workshops clean, safe and organised.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Support pupils and staff with practical projects.
