Job summary

Worldwide Teaching Ltd is seeking a dedicated DT Technician to support a secondary school in Stockport. The role focuses on preparing and maintaining design and technology workshops, assisting teachers during lessons and ensuring safe, well-equipped classrooms.

You will help set up materials and equipment, support practical demonstrations, and manage stock and safety procedures to enable high-quality practical learning for students.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a DT/Engineering or practical workshop role.
• Strong knowledge of workshop tools, machinery and materials.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements when working with tools and machinery.
• Good organisational skills and ability to prepare resources efficiently.
• Confidence to work independently and as part of a Design & Technology department.
• Calm, professional and proactive approach.
• Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up materials, tools and equipment for Design & Technology lessons.
• Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations, projects and classroom activities.
• Maintaining and organising DT workshops, machinery, tools and resources.
• Ensuring equipment and machinery is safe, clean and ready for use.
• Supporting students with practical tasks and the safe use of tools and equipment.
• Preparing materials for practical projects and coursework.
• Carrying out routine checks and reporting any issues with equipment or machinery.
• Supporting the department with stock control and ordering of materials where required.
• Maintaining a safe, organised and effective workshop environment.
• Following all relevant health and safety procedures at all times.
