Job summary

Wayman Education is seeking a proactive Design & Technology Technician for an outstanding secondary school in Maida Vale, West London. You will support practical lessons, maintain workshop facilities, manage machinery, and assist students with tool use and project work.

Prepare timber, metal, and plastics for KS3 to A-Level sessions, service equipment (band saws, 3D printers, laser cutters), and ensure safety compliance under DATA guidelines in all workshops.

Qualifications

• Experience as a DT Technician in a school environment or background in carpentry, engineering, or practical design trades.
• Strong knowledge of workshop machinery and H&S procedures (DATA qualifications advantageous).
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is desirable.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timber, metals, and plastics and tools for KS3 to A-Level sessions.
• Maintain, service, and ensure safe operation of workshop machinery.
• Adhere to Health & Safety standards (DATA guidelines) across all workshops.
• Assist teachers and students during practical lessons, demonstrating tool usage.
• Manage stock levels, conduct inventory checks, and place orders for materials.
